Mike Hartgrove, a successful builder and developer in Kingsport, is a native of Sullivan County with more than 25 years experience in the construction business.
- Mike learned construction by working summers for his father, also a builder;
- At age 19, took a job with Rentenbach Construction of Knoxville;
- In 1982, as a result of his father’s illness, Mike returned to Kingsport to complete his father’s projects and launched Hartgrove Construction, specializing in commercial and industrial construction;
- In 1996, Mike developed his first residential project, Cobblestone Place, designed for seniors;
- In 2000, as the result of a serious accident, Mike felt compelled to give back to humanity thus beginning his missionary work in Nicaragua. Over the next three years he constructed and completed $4 million worth of construction – 13 churches and a 13,000 square foot school;
- Back in Kingsport since 2003, he returned in time to complete the highly successful Cobblestone Place and begin construction on a second senior development, PineBrook Place.
Using the motto “Live Younger Longer,” Hartgrove presents his idea of what he calls “no-step living” designed to cater to the special needs of adults 55 and older.
